Gambling – Playing Responsibly

Responsible gambling. Now it’s time to bring you some examples and practice:  You have to realize, that gambling is primarily an entertainment. It costs money, but you can of course gain some practice playing online for virtual cash. If you want to play for real and win real money, you’ll soon realize that you are also going to lose many times.

Gambling is an entertainment, not a regular income

It is the very first thing you need to understand. Don’t ever think about gambling as your job, or a way to improve your life. Your winnings should be treated as an additional, lucky income, never as a regular source of money. All games of chance rely on probability and in the long term, the house is  always on top. Although, this rule doesn’t apply to poker, where you’re playing against other participants and not the casino. In poker skills are the key, but in any other game where casino pays your winnings, you are at a disadvantage. If you want to play in a casino, you should understand that you pay for your entertainment and pleasure, rather than an opportunity to earn money. Be sure to keep a great distance to your winnings. Don’t think that you will be winning every time you sit down to play.

Play only with money you can afford to lose

If you’re going out with friends, you are prepared for some expenses. You should be prepared to spend some money when you’re going to a casino as well. The only difference is, casino lets you win something once in a while. Therefore, never gamble for money you don’t have or you can’t afford to lose – that’s the main principle. If you have some loose cash and you would rather spend it on a game, rather than going to the cinema, go ahead. Otherwise, don’t even think about it.

Don’t ever borrow money for gambling

Remember that gambling can be very addictive. If you lost all the money you had in a game, do not try to go back to the casino at all costs. Take care of other things in your life – think about your work, and family. Do not borrow money on a game, because that can only lead to very unpleasant situations in life. Most likely, you will not be able to give that money back in time. Pay only for your own cash and treat gambling as a private entertainment.

Set your game budget

Before you start betting, decide how much money you can spend. If you find that you have some free cash to play for, set a limit that does not exceed your resources. For example, if you can spend 200 PLN, deposit that amount to the casino. If you lose, leave immediately. Establishing the budget for a game and sticking to it, is a sign of responsibility. You need to have this on your mind before you even start to play at the casino.

Do not try to win your money back

If you happen to lose your gambling budget, do not try to win your money back at all costs. Doing so can only result in even bigger losses, frustrations and holes in your budget, that can haunt you for the rest of your life. Do not let gambling turn into a source of frustration, discomfort and problems in your everyday life – keep it fun. If you exhaust your money limit, simply walk away. You would do the same thing if you drunk too much and spent all your cash – you would return home, to your bed and wait for the next time you go out. Do the same at the casino. Think of it at the end of your day’s entertainment and go back to your everyday life.

We know that these guidelines may sound like you are stepping into a great, but in fact, gambling is no different to other addictions. Treat it with moderation and always approach it with common sense. Remember that gambling is only a form of entertainment and not a way to make money! You can see live results here
